Founders' events find new homes
2nd March, 2016

Three upcoming events originally scheduled for Founders Theatre have already found new venues – this follows the immediate closure of Founders yesterday on health and safety grounds.

James Reyne is moving to Claudelands Arena at the same time and date (Friday 11 March at 8pm) and all tickets already sold are valid for the new venue.

Six Waikato Institute of Technology’s (Wintec) graduation ceremonies are also moving to Claudelands Arena on 21 - 23 March where nearly 1000 students will take to the stage to receive their qualification in front of friends and family. This follows an earlier ceremony on Friday 18 March at Wintec’s city campus marae, Te Kōpū Mānia o Kirikiriroa, where around 110 students are set to graduate to kick off graduation week.

The highly acclaimed Judith Durham will be moving to Claudelands Arena in theatre mode on Sunday 17 April at 4.30pm as originally scheduled, but new tickets will be required. All current ticket holders will receive an email or a call from Ticketek regarding reissue of their ticket(s).

Tickets are still on sale for the Reyne and Durham events through ticketek.co.nz.

A fourth event, The Solo Pianist NZ Tour featuring Artur Dutkiewicz, is not yet on sale but a decision has been made to move this event to the Founders foyer on Thursday 7 April at 7.30pm. Artur Dutkiewicz will be supported by Hamilton band Banda de la Casa. Tickets will be on sale through Ticketek next week.

“Other events are progressing well with plans to relocate to other venues throughout the city and, once confirmed, these will be updated on the founderstheatre.co.nz website and via Ticketek to those who already have tickets,” says H3 Executive Director Sean Murray.
